Baby showers can sometimes feel redundant and boring. A simple way to spice things up is an interactive activity, like a hand-craft that everyone can participate in. There are plenty of craft ideas for baby showers out there. Think through the things you like to do and also what the mother-to-be enjoys. Need some suggestions? Follow along for some quick baby shower craft ideas to get you started.
Perhaps your guest-of-honor is passionate about scrap-booking. All you need to do is hit up your local craft store for some supplies such as paper, pens / markers, glue, glitter, scissors, etc. You can also suggest on the invites to your guests to each bring a 12" x 12" piece of scrapbook card-stock to work on.
You or any other guest might have a knack for this hobby as well, so you might have access to stencils, die-cutting machines, specialty paper items, and any other gadgets associated with scrap-booking. Be sure to use whatever you have available to you; it will save you lots of money in the long run.
You can have a designated time when the activity of the shower is to make a page for a "baby's firsts" scrapbook. Put things like, first tooth, first haircut, first day of school, on strips of paper. You can be funny and add things such as first car, first girlfriend, etc.
Put the papers in a hat and have each guest draw for what page they'll be doing. Give your guests about 10 to 15 minutes to design their page, and then have each person present and explain their creation to the mom-to-be. Expect her (and others) to laugh, cry, and have a really good time.
A similar baby shower craft idea is to design birthday cards. Go around the room and assign each attendee a number, or have them count off. They will each be designing a birthday card for the year they have (so the lady with number eight will make a card for junior's 8th birthday).
For this baby shower craft idea, you will need mainly the same supplies, but you can also buy totally blank cards as well. The process is basically the same, giving plenty of time to design, and then the final presentation of the finished project.
Another of the great baby shower craft ideas is to decorate onesies or baby t-shirts. You'll need to buy packages of plain white onesies or shirts in varying sizes. Get some fabric markers, some gel paints, some newspapers, and stencils, and each guest gets to complete at least one item for baby to wear. You might want to make up a couple beforehand to serve as inspiration to the others.
When you're all done, present them to mom and baby will have loads of new, unique, one-of-a-kind clothes to wear in his or her first year!
Crafts can bring a whole new level of fun to a traditional baby shower. It will give you and your guests something to do, talk about, and most importantly remember!
