Homemade Face Masks - Tips, Ingredients and Recipes

Do you wish to make homemade face masks?

We all know that a good homemade facial mask can make your skin radiant, clear and glowing, but you need to know which ingredients will be most helpful to your skin, or you might wind up with blemishes, breakouts and allergic reactions.

Eliminate any ingredients you might be allergic to

When you're planning to use a homemade face mask, you should make sure to avoid any products that you might be allergic to. While natural household products are great and can be gentle most of the time, an allergy to eggs or honey can really derail any benefits you were seeking.

Avoid ingredients that you know you're allergic to when you're making your homemade facial masks.

Know what your skin needs and use the right ingredients

When you're making homemade face masks, you should make sure that you know what your skin really needs, and then use the right ingredients for the job. The goal is to make sure that you have radiant, glowing skin that is breakout free.

Natural ingredients can help you with all kinds of skin care problems, but you should know which ones will be best for your situation.

  • Honey is commonly used for dry skin, plus it is naturally antibacterial, which can help to reduce your breakouts. This is a great ingredient for a homemade facial mask whether you want to clear your skin up or to keep it soft and moisturized.

  • Cream is good for adding moisture to the skin, but can be too much if you have naturally oily skin.

  • If you want to get rid of those deep cystic pimples that so many can wind up with, consider using eggs, which are rich in sulfur and will naturally penetrate deep down into the skin to break up the cysts which start deep below the layers of the skin.

  • Oatmeal is a really good way to reduce the oil in your skin while maintaining your natural moisture balance.

  • Berries are naturally rich in antioxidants and help to give skin that bright healthy glow that we crave.

  • Ingredients such as avocado do double duty by offering your skin the regenerating vitamin E that it needs and nourishing oils to help keep your face smooth and soft.

Combine accordingly

Your homemade face masks can be made up of anything, but you might want to focus on one skincare need at one time. For instance, if you want to brighten and moisturize, you might want to consider mixing honey, berries and cream for a facial mask that will leave you looking refreshed and radiant.

If you want to fight oil and breakouts, but don't want to dry your skin out, consider making up a facial mask of plain oatmeal and honey. Skip the cream because this can make your skin too oily. You can add a drop or two of vitamin E oil to this mask, since it helps to fight free radicals and absorbs easily without clogging pores.

Leave any homemade face mask on for at least 15 minutes for optimum results, then rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

A good homemade face mask is a wonderful way to keep your face looking beautiful and fresh, while getting all kinds of great benefits for your skin. So, choose the right ingredients and mix away. You'll never need to buy another mask again.
