House Warming Invitations - Tips and Ideas for the Party Invites

Do you need some tips and ideas for house warming invitations?

If you have recently moved into a new place and you're excited about everyone coming over and seeing it, then you might have thought of hosting a house warming party.

House warming parties can be a great way of showing off your new digs to all of your friends and family at once. Plus, you only have to clean one time! So, what are the particulars when it comes to house warming invitations?

Generally speaking, house warming parties are casual. This means that you don't necessarily have to go to a lot of trouble as far as decorations and catering is concerned. Likewise, it is generally assumed that the attire will be casual rather than formal.

Of course, if you want a formal affair for your party, then you can go that route. However, if you do want your house warming party to be formal, then you should definitely make sure that the wording on your invitations conveys this. Refrain from using casual phrases, and you might even want to add "black tie event" someplace in your house warming invitation. If you don't, then you can pretty much guarantee that people are going to show up in denim.

Some people like to call in a caterer for their party, while other people prefer to do their own cooking. Still, many people like to go the potluck route for house warming parties, and this is completely acceptable. After all, guests traditionally like to bring gifts for these types of parties, and a food dish is the perfect accessory.

If you do want a potluck dinner, then ensure that this is mentioned on the house warming invitations. You want your guests to know that they should bring a small dish, or drinks, to share with everyone else. Be prepared for phone calls regarding this, as people will eventually want to know what they are supposed to bring.

Of course, directions will probably be necessary as well, so you will also want to include them in your house warming party invitations. Since you are now living in a new place, you might want to consider the fact that not everyone is going to know where it is located.

Choosing the time of day that you will have the party is also important. If you want to have an "open house" type of deal, then in your house warming invitations, you might mention that you are having an "open house from 3-6" and state that guests can "drop in at any time." This will let your guests know that they don't have to be there at 3:00 pm and that they don't have to stay until 6:00 pm.

An open house type of party is very relaxed and informal and can be a great way to introduce people to your new house. It is typically held in the afternoon hours and guests generally don't expect to be fed a complete meal, although small appetizer dishes are the norm.

Unlike some parties, house warming parties are not usually considered to be "adults only", so if you do not want children to attend, then make sure that you exclude their names or the phrase "and family" from your house warming invitations.

Have fun!
