Mother's Day Brunch Ideas and Tips - a Nice Meal with Mom

Are you seeking interesting and creative Mother's Day brunch ideas?

Is the usual Mother's Day brunch getting to be a little bit ho-hum?

For many people, this is a tradition, but if you're tired of battling the crowds and paying too much money for food that is mediocre at best, it might be time to consider something a little different.

Consider doing this year's Mother's Day brunch at home - you can make sure that the mom in your life feels special, eats well, and you truly get to enjoy the whole day if you like. There are some ways to make a brunch at your home really special that are so simple and fun to do, so here are some Mother's Day brunch ideas and tips to help you make the day as special as she is:

  • Don't forget to add that extra special something. If the weather is nice, consider having your brunch outside. Decorate with fresh spring flowers and cover the table with a soft and feminine table cloth for a look that suits the occasion. Fresh cut spring flowers from your garden or the florist work beautifully for decorations. Add them to clear glass vases with softly colored or natural stones at the bottom to give some extra visual appeal. Lilacs, tulips and hyacinths are all popping out, so make use of these lovelies to create bouquets that your mom will love to take home with her.

  • Consider your menu. What sort of foods does your mom really love and who else will be eating with you? If you're having a large crowd, you may want to cook larger dishes, but if you're having an intimate occasion, consider some of the following fun recipes for your Mother's Day brunch ideas.

    German Pancake

For this Mother's Day brunch idea, you will need:

    • A half cup of flour (all purpose is best)
    • A half cup of whole milk
    • Three large eggs
    • One half cup of your favorite fruit jam
    • Two tablespoons of unsalted butter
    • Two tablespoons of lemon juice (if you like)
    • Two tablespoons of powdered sugar (also called confectioner's)
    • One quarter teaspoon of kosher salt
    • One half a teaspoon of vanilla extract (real vanilla works best)
    • A large cast iron skillet

Directions for this Mother's Day brunch idea:

    1. Preheat your oven to 400°.
    2. Whisk eggs in a large bowl and add flour. Continue whisking until smooth. Add the salt, vanilla and milk. Whisk until mixed into the batter and set the bowl aside.
    3. Put the butter into the cast iron skillet and put it into the preheated oven until it's melted. Pour the batter into the skillet with the melted butter and put the mixture back in the oven.
    4. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the pancake is golden and puffed.
    5. Drizzle the lemon juice over the hot pancake and spread the jam. Top with the confectioner's sugar and serve.

Citrus Fruit Salad with Honey and Mint

Here is another Mother's Day brunch idea. For this recipe, you will need:

    • One orange (navel oranges work best)
    • One grapefruit (ruby reds look the prettiest)
    • Four sprigs of fresh mint
    • Two teaspoons of honey

    1. Cut the peel and the pith (the outside of the orange and grapefruit segments) off of the grapefruit and orange.
    2. Slice the whole fruit so that you have "fruit rounds"
    3. Arrange alternating orange and grapefruit slices on plates and drizzle with the honey. Garnish with the mint before serving.

Hopefully, these tips and recipes will give you the Mother's Day brunch ideas that you need, and help you to prepare a Mother's Day brunch that your mom and the whole family will enjoy.
