Home Made Body Wrap - Tips and Instructions

Do you wish to enjoy a home made body wrap?

A good body wrap can do just about everything from helping you to lose weight to improving the look and tone of the skin to detoxifying the body. It's luxurious and can leave you feeling fresh and ready to take on the world.

Sounds wonderful, but for many, this first rate spa treatment is just too expensive. That doesn't mean that you can't create your own body wrap from home and still get all the benefits.

Here are some tips and points to consider for home made body wraps.

  • Before you even consider doing a home made body wrap, you should plan which herbs you would like to use. There are many that are wonderful for the skin and senses and will leave you feeling lighter and your skin glowing. Lavender, sage, chamomile, calendula and ginger are all great for the skin and body. You can also use a combination of these if you like. Seaweed is another great addition to help you detoxify your body.

  • The next thing you'll want to do is to have a plastic drop cloth or two. One is for you to lie on and enjoy the soothing benefits of the wrap, and the other is to protect the area you plan to lie on. Since you will be using clay, it's not a good idea to lie down, especially on your bed, without protecting it first. In addition to drop cloths, you might also want to use some old sheets or towels for more comfort. If you want to keep the heat in, consider using an old blanket to cover up with.

  • Once you've gotten all of your supplies for your home made body wrap in place, you'll need to prepare the mask that you're going to apply to your body.

  • Once you've taken these steps, you should do a dry exfoliation on the body using a gentle brush or salts. For moisturizing benefits, consider adding some essential oils to Epsom salts and rub gently all over the body to exfoliate.

  • Take a nice warm shower to rinse the scrub and open your pores. Make sure that you're rinsed clean, but don't wash with soap.

  • It's time to apply your home made body wrap to your body. You want to do this while your skin is still wet and warm, and apply to your whole body.

  • Wrap with saran wrap pieces, starting at the calves and working your way up, or wrap yourself up in a plastic tarp like a mummy.

  • Lie down, relax, and enjoy the home made body wrap experience for anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes. You can even set your alarm and take a little nap if you like.

  • Once you're done, rinse your body in the shower until all the clay is removed.

If you're looking to achieve detoxification benefits, it's a good idea to do this wrap once weekly for about six weeks, but if you're just looking for a great way to relax and improve the look and feel of your skin, then your wrap can be an occasional treat.

You know that you can use the herbs you like in your home made body wraps. Either buy them powdered, or put them in a food processor and powder them that way. A good recipe such as this one might also help you:

  • 8 cups of water, boiled
  • 2 cups of clay such as Kaolin for dry skin
  • 1 cup of Epsom salts
  • 1 cup of herbs of your choice
  • Or 1 cup of seaweed such as kelp

Mix the dry ingredients to the boiling water and let it sit for about 15 to 20 minutes. If you don't want to apply the mixture directly to the skin, you can dip salon type towels into the mixture and wrap them around your body.

A home made body wrap is a wonderful way to feel great, de-stress, relax and improve the overall health of the body and skin, so why not try one for yourself?

Enjoy the wonderful experience!
