Homemade TV Antenna - Steps, Ideas and Tips

Method One

Things Required

  • Speaker wire
  • Double-sided tape
  • Wire cutters
  • Sewing pin with elastic bulb at end
  • Any conductive metal

    Instructions

  • Strip the ends of the wire using a wire cutter.

  • Wrap the wire around the needle and keep it close to the bulb.

  • Attach the other end of the wire with a metallic object. Keep it at a high place but not above or near the TV.

  • Locate the UHF antenna port area on the backside of your television. Take the needle and insert it in the outlet of UHF and switch on your television.

    Method Two

    Things Required

  • Piece of cable
  • Furniture tape
  • Empty metallic can
  • A wooden piece to hold the cans

    Instructions

  • Cut the can in two symmetrically equal parts and attach them with your wooden piece using the furniture tape.

  • Strip one side of the cable and separate the inner copper wire from the outside screening wires.

  • Connect the inner copper wire to one half of the can and connect the outer wire with the second half.

  • Connect the antenna to the television and move it around until you have established a good connection to the closest TV tower. You will be able to see a relatively clear picture when you have established a good connection. Secure the antenna as high as possible while maintaining your connection.

    • Try to be careful while using any tools when constructing your homemade antenna.

    • Use a big sewing pin to snug the antenna wire in the cable outlet so that it doesn't come out easily.
