Halloween Party Games Ideas - Fun for Adults and Children

Are you looking for Halloween party games ideas to provide some fun for your family and guests?

You've sent out your invitations, you've started preparing your menu, now you're ready to start planning your Halloween party activities.

There are a number of things you can do to make your Halloween party a fun, memorable time for you and your guests. Here are some Halloween party games ideas you can use.

First, you need to make sure the games are age appropriate. You don't want games that are too complex for younger crowds. In addition, you don't want games that are too simple for older crowds.

For younger children, there are a number of Halloween party games ideas to make a fun evening. One is the witch's hat ring toss (usually a good game for children 5 and younger). Take two witch's hats (available at most discount stores) and stuff with paper to make the hats solid and attach the hats to a piece of wood. You want to make sure that your hats are firmly attached and don't tip over easily.

Now, purchase 6 to 8 glow-in-the-dark necklaces to use as your rings. Divide the guests into two groups and give them half of the rings. Place the witch's hats 5 to 10 feet from the pitch line (with ample space between the hats) and have each team take turns tossing the rings. The team that gets all of their rings on their hat first wins.

How about Halloween party games ideas for older children? For this group, you may want to do Halloween craft ideas or games such as build a monster.

With this, you take foam pieces and glue and create your own monster. You can make this a game or challenge by timing the participants. The one who completes their monster first is the winner. Not only does this give them a fun activity to do, it also helps them create their own party treat to take home.

You can also take the old standard "pin the tail on the donkey" and alter it to fit your Halloween theme. You can play "pin the tail on the cat" or "pin the mouth on the bat." Another variation is "pin the hat on the witch."

For older children (teens) or adults, you can play Halloween survivor as one of your Halloween party games ideas. This includes a series of challenges or obstacles that participants must get through. The winner (survivor) will get a prize at the end of the day.

If someone wins a challenge, they are exempt from the next challenge. Some activities to include in your Halloween survivor challenge include: unscramble Halloween words, see how many words can be created from the word Halloween, free throw competitions (you can use a black magic marker to draw a jack-o-lantern face on your basketball), musical chairs, Halloween trivia, and a number of other activities.

Another Halloween party games idea is a costume contest. You can set up a bowl and have other guests vote on who they think has the best costume. For larger parties (such as classrooms or school fall festivals), this is a great way to get people to be creative when deciding what to wear.

Halloween party games ideas are endless. Whatever you decide to do at your Halloween party, remember that the goal is to have fun. Plan activities that are age appropriate and can be enjoyed by all of your guests. Have great fun!
