Home Made Carpet Cleaning Solution - Simple Recipes to Make Your Own Natural Agents

Here, you will learn about how to make your own home made carpet cleaning solution.

There are many benefits to having carpeting in your home; however, many people don't like the cost of keeping carpets clean. Also, people worry that store bought carpet cleaners can be hazardous to children or pets in the home.

However, there is an alternative. With these home made carpet cleaning solutions, you can keep your carpets clean and your family and pets safe from chemicals. Also, by making your own cleaning solutions, you will find yourself saving time and money, on top of helping to safeguard the environment.

A very inexpensive, simple home made carpet cleaning solution uses only three ingredients: water, vinegar and baking soda. There are two ways you can use these ingredients to make either a full carpet cleaner or a wonderful spot remover. To remove spots, mix vinegar and baking soda together to form a paste. When the solution starts to bubble, don't be alarmed - this a natural chemical reaction and it is non-toxic.

The amount of baking soda and vinegar to be used will depend on how large a spot is. For spots which are smaller, you would mix about 1/8 cup of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of vinegar to form a paste. For spots which are larger, on the other hand, you would mix a whole box of baking soda with about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of vinegar.

Using an old toothbrush or other stiff bristle brush, work the paste into the carpet at the site of the stain and allow to dry completely. Once the mixture had dried, simply vacuum the area until all the baking soda is removed. For really tough stains, you may have to treat more than once.

For steam cleaners, simply mix equal amounts of warm water and white vinegar and use the machine as directed. Vinegar is a natural odor neutralizer which can help not only clean the carpets but refresh the air too.

Another great home made carpet cleaning solution requires that you mix 1/4 to 1/2 cup dish washing detergent in a gallon sized container (a clean milk jug works great for this) with an equal amount of liquid laundry detergent. Add one cup ammonia and top off with water. Remember, when using ammonia, it is important that you wear rubber gloves. This solution can be used in a wet-vac or as a spot remover.

Once you have used your homemade rug shampoo, you will be ready to rinse. To make your homemade rinse, combine 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup warm water (or equal parts of each, depending on the amount of cleaner which is needed) to lift ground in dirt and grime. Remember, you need a wet-vac for this solution, since the carpets will not be dry.

Club soda is also a great carpet cleaner. To clean carpets with club soda, simply soak spots in club soda and blot until all the club soda is absorbed and the spot is removed.

To make a great carpet deodorizer, you can combine 4 cups baking soda, 35 drops eucalyptus oil, 30 drops lavender oil, and 35 drops rosemary oil (found in most homeopathic stores) and mix until the oil is evenly distributed and there are no lumps. Sprinkle on carpet and let sit for 15 to 20 minutes and vacuum. This will effectively deodorize your carpets. You can also experiment with natural oil essences to create your own signature scent in your home.

When it comes to cleaning and deodorizing your carpets, you don't have to rely on harsh, chemical filled solutions that are found in most stores. You can use these home made carpet cleaning solutions to remove stains, overall clean carpets and deodorize your home. Cleaning can also be made more enjoyable if you are making your own supplies.
