Sometimes, it's best to ask a teenager what he or she wants for Christmas - or at least give you some clues - as they are usually more difficult to buy for than the younger set.
An easy way out when buying teenage Christmas presents is to give them gift cards to a favorite store. An even better idea would be to give a gift card to the local mall so that they can buy clothing, CD's, iPod "stuff", or anything else their little hearts desire! Metal containers can be purchased for the cards; this is a good idea as it allows them to stow the card in the container and also keep a piece of paper in there to show the balance and how much money is left on the card.
Movies are popular with teenagers, so why not buy a gift pack of movie tickets for your teenager's Christmas present? The tickets are loaded onto cards which have many designs to choose from, or you can create your own design - and they can even be emailed to the recipient for a last-minute gift.
While I'm on the subject of gift cards, a card for the local gas station would make a great Christmas gift for the teenager who's also a driver.
A gel skin for a cell phone or iPod, laptop, tablet or eReader can be great teenage Christmas presents, whether you choose from the hundreds of designs available or create your own.
If you're sure of your teenager's fashion preferences, a new casual or dressy watch would make a nice gift, as would a school "hoodie" or fleece jacket. A girl might like a cute necklace in a box - these come in wooden boxes, and there are many styles to choose from. The box can be subsequently used as a small jewelry box. Silver chains (and earrings!) are worn nowadays by both girls and boys, and are generally inexpensive.
A box of personalized M&M's candy would make an unusual teenage Christmas gift. For such teenage Christmas presents, there are so many options, from choosing a favorite color to having names, photos or slogans printed on the candy, and can be purchased by the box containing three bags or a coffee mug filled with one bag.
If you can knit or crochet, then you could make an inexpensive teenage Christmas present such as a beanie hat and scarf set. These are so easy to create and only take a couple of balls of yarn - one of these gifts would be suitable for a boy or girl, depending on your color choice.
A teenager at college might appreciate a gift for his or her dorm room. An incredibly loud alarm clock with an attachment that can also shake the bed might be the ideal gift for a teenager who can't get out of bed in time for class. Once he or she is awake, a laptop desk would make it a lot easier to write assignments and term papers - and can even be used in bed.
As you can see, there are many choices for teenage Christmas presents - whether you take the easy way out with a gift card or shop around for something special. You might even get a "Thank you" from the recipient of the teenage Christmas present!
