  • Diatomaceous earth is very finely ground particles of seashells and other types of fossils. This will tear the tender body of many bugs and cause them to die. Sprinkle it on your shoes to keep fleas from coming into your home as well.

  • To help keep mites at bay, it's a good idea to allow spiders, predatory mites and lacewings around your garden. You can draw these beneficial bugs by keeping your garden composted and well mulched.

  • Know which animals don't like certain odorous plants - this will be helpful in organic garden pest control. For instance, since cats and other animals don't like citrus, consider putting orange and grapefruit peels in your garden to keep them away. Garlic and cinnamon, as well as cayenne pepper or black pepper, can be helpful in eliminating ant problems.
