Romantic Honeymoon Ideas - Tips for Fun and Romance

Are you cracking your head for romantic honeymoon ideas?

Your honeymoon has the potential to be one of the most romantic trips that you will ever take. So how can you take steps in ensuring that it lives up to its romantic ideals?

To begin with, everyone's idea of romance is different. What one couple considers to be romantic, another couple might turn their noses up at. When we got married, for instance, we were planning on going to Hawaii for our honeymoon. What's not to love about Hawaii, right? Beaches, tropical sunsets, mai tais, sand - it sounded like the right place for a honeymoon, a perfect romantic honeymoon idea.

The more we thought about it, though, the more we realized that we were more or less giving into the idea of what should be a romantic honeymoon, and not one that we would actually like to go on. Neither one of us are beach people, we both find sand a little bit annoying, and I'm not into adventure sports like surfing. In the end, we went to Arizona, where we hiked through the desert, ate some terrific Southwestern meals, and stayed in a cabin in a beautiful canyon. It was very romantic.

While romance might be individual for the couple, here are a few romantic honeymoon ideas to get you started. Remember that this is a time for the two of you, however, and that being together and having fun will help create some of the magic that you are seeking.

  1. The beach - Some people simply love the beach. If you are into taking long walks in the sand, dipping your toes in the ocean, and snorkeling, then a beach honeymoon can be very romantic. Just make sure that you aren't going to a beach that is overrun with families or tour groups, or else you might be fighting your way through the crowds for sand space.
  2. A big city - New York, Boston, Chicago, San Diego, and San Francisco are all very exciting places that have a lot to offer for romantic honeymoon ideas. From first class restaurants to shows, nightclubs, museums, and historical sites, you really can't go wrong in a big city. Spend your days exploring hidden streets and shops, and your evenings tucked away in cozy restaurants off the beaten path.
  3. A ranch - If you love to ride horses, take in breathtaking scenery, and being in nature, then a ranch can be a perfect romantic destination - a great romantic honeymoon idea indeed. There are many ranches in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming that have gorgeous cabins built for two. You can stay there a week and have access to your own horses for trail rides, private campfires, and lots of time for cozying up with the one you love.
  4. A vineyard - If you both love to drink wine and have ever wanted to try out a vineyard, then this is the perfect time to do so. Many vineyards are now offering wine tasting classes as well as hands on experience when it comes to the process. Some of these places are 5 star establishments as well, which means that you will still be getting a luxurious vacation while choosing these romantic honeymoon ideas.
  5. A secluded cabin - Never underestimate the power of a secluded cabin in the woods or in the mountains. Maybe you don't need a lot of fancy restaurants or museums at your fingertips. In fact, after the wedding, you might just want to relax and enjoy each other's company. Consider getting a cabin with a private Jacuzzi, front porch swing, and a fireplace to snuggle up in front of.

Do any of the above romantic honeymoon ideas appeal to you? Remember that everyone's idea of romance is different, so you may wish to take some time to think about and decide upon what is truly romantic for the two of you. All the best, and have fun!
