Something that can be tricky, though, is to come up with the nifty little quotes and sayings for the inside of the card. Coming up with the right verses and sayings for birthday cards can seem tough, but truly, anyone can do this! Taking some time to come up with your own words for your homemade cards will make a sentimental impression on whoever is receiving them from you.
When it comes to verses for birthday cards, the easiest place to start is with simple humor. You know the things that make the people closest to you laugh, so play it up and use it to your advantage.
For someone who's in the 40 to 50 age category, the following quote from Rodney Dangerfield is sure to get a good laugh out of them. "I'm at the age where food has taken the place of sex in my life. In fact, I've just had a mirror put over my kitchen table."
Or, you could use verses for birthday cards which are a little less racy, such as "Age is a number, and mine is unlisted."
And, if you're wanting to fill up a bit more of the card, use this story. "Two elderly gentlemen were sitting on a bench under a tree. One turns to the other and says, 'Ted, I'm 83 years old now and I'm just full of aches and pains. I know you're about my age, how do you feel?' Ted replies, 'I feel like a newborn baby.' 'Really? Like a newborn baby?' 'Yep, No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants.'"
These stories and verses for birthday cards are mostly aimed at older people, of course, but that last one can be thrown onto pretty much anybody's card and they'll get a good laugh out of it for sure!
If you're making a card for your mother and looking for verses for birthday cards, the following birthday poem by Karl Fuchs, called "To Mom from her Pesky Kid", might be exactly what you're looking for.
I really love my mother,
My mother has a birthday,
See, Ma don't like her birthdays;
My mother showed me lots of things,
What a clever poem! Could it be part of the verses for birthday cards you wish to use? Be sure to sign it with a "Thank you" to your mom who shared all those wonderful things with you!
Another humorous option, but from a parent to a child. "Stop Fighting me, and Oh Yeah, Happy Birthday", also written by Karl Fuchs, could be just about perfect for a teenager.
I' old enough and therefore wise;
And although we often disagree,
Before too long, your bulb may light;
With each year you live your thinking grows stronger,
I think that about says what any parent would like to say to their stubborn, know-it-all teens at some point or another!
The verses for birthday cards listed above are all great ways to tell someone that you're glad to celebrate their life. These are all poems created by someone else, why not take a few moments and come up with your own? That will make the card much more personalized! Good luck!
