The thing is, you're just not quite sure how you want to do it. You want it to be perfect and like she's always imagined it would be, but at the same time, you want your proposal to be uniquely yours.
The best wedding proposals are personal, romantic, and original. Seek out ideas from the resources you have, but when it comes down to it, make it your own.
How do you do it, you might be asking. For the best marriage proposals, don't be afraid to put your own special, sentimental touches out there. Sure, any schmuck can give his bride-to-be (well, if she says yes that's what she'll be) a dozen roses, but not you. Maybe you know that your girl's favorite flowers are yellow lilies - then have a single stem waiting for her.
Another great idea is to include music, not played from a CD, but by you. Take some guitar lessons and learn the lyrics to "your" song and sing it to her. You could even write your own song - it doesn't get much more original than that!
Maybe that lady you're after loves being pampered and treated like a princess. Reserve a ride in a horse-drawn carriage at dusk and pop the question just as the sun sets past the horizon. These are all examples of ways to turn good marriage proposals into some of the best marriage proposals.
If there is something about you that just makes you who you are - a hobby, sports obsession, whatever it may be, use it in creating the best marriage proposal. Let me share an example to show you what I mean.
My friend Aaron is an avid fisherman; to be honest, I don't know how the man made time to date and pursue a woman. When he and [his now wife] Monica had been together for a few months, he decided this was "the one" for him.
He took her out on a fishing boat, which was a normal way for the two to spend time together. While she was on one end of the boat, he was on the other, tying what was probably the most secure knot he's ever tied in his life as he tied her engagement ring to the end of the fishing line. He casted out (cautiously I'm sure), and after a minute or two, he asked Monica to hold his pole for him, saying that he needed to switch lures.
While he fumbled in the tacklebox, he asked her to reel his in and start taking the existing "lure" off. When she reeled it in, she curiously grabbed for whatever it was dangling on the end of the line, and when she saw it, her jaw dropped.
She turned to look at Aaron, who was on his knee beside her, and he said, "You're the best catch of my life, will you marry me?" Of course, she said yes, and they were married 6 months later!
Isn't this one of the most unusual, creative and best marriage proposals you've ever come across?
The point of all of this is that the best marriage proposals are the ones that are thought through and made personal. If a man wasn't a true fisherman, and he tried to propose like in the story, the woman may have been pretty confused, and perhaps a little disappointed if the knot wasn't tied quite right and there was nothing to be found at the end of the line!
For the best marriage proposal idea, do something that is special to you, and will be special to her, because it's a day she's dreamed of, too. Good luck, and if you're taking a note from the fisherman's proposal, do some research (and practice) on knot-tying first!
