Christmas Office Party Games - Fun and Laughter with Your Co-workers

Do you need some ideas and inspiration for fun Christmas office party games?

It's time for your company's Christmas party - and you're in charge of organizing the party games. This is a task that can be fraught with danger if you're not careful.

You have to remember that this is your Christmas office party, so the games have to enable everyone to keep their professional demeanor at all times. It's fine to have fun and perhaps look silly whilst playing the party games, but there's a fine line you must follow to avoid offending anyone.

In this politically correct world, it can be easy to cause a coworker to feel uncomfortable, and you may have to face the repercussions of your actions. You will also have to decide whether or not you are going to have prizes for the winners - play it safe with gift cards.

Here are some ideas and options for your Christmas office party games.

Name the baby

This is a really fun game that everyone can enjoy. Have all the staff bring in a baby photo of themselves and attach them to a bulletin board. Give each photo a number, then have each player write down the numbers and try to guess which staff member belongs to each photo!

You might be surprised at how many correct answers there are, but naturally, the player with the most correct answers is the winner.

Date the toy

For this Christmas office party game, choose 10 or more toys from your childhood that are still available today. You will have to do some online research for this game to find out the dates when the toys were first offered for sale. Make a list of the toys and give all the players a copy, then have them write down their best guess as to when the toys were released. Again, the player with the most correct answers is the winner.

Name the logo

Cut company logos from magazines and arrange them on a bulletin board, then have all the players try to identify as many logos as they can. Make sure you don't make it too easy for them - for the Coca Cola logo, you could just cut out an "a", or for Olay products, cut out the "y", for example, and make sure you have both male and female-related products to avoid bias.

This Christmas office party game will make people think hard, and some will come up with strange responses - so make sure you have a copy of the full logo handy so that you can verify your answers!

Who am I?

For this Christmas office party game, you will need to choose a category for your game - cartoon characters, movies, animals, etc. Make name tags for one of the items in your category and pin the tag on the back of each player as they arrive at the office party. They have to find out who they are by asking questions of other people.

There are rules that have to be adhered to:

  • They may only ask Yes or No questions.
  • They may only answer Yes or No questions.
  • They may not cheat and look at or remove their name tag to find out who or what they are.

The person who guesses his or her identity first is the winner, but the others should keep playing until everyone has guessed correctly.

    Kids' Games

Try some Christmas office party games for children - such as musical chairs or pass the orange - where each member of a team has to tuck an orange under his or her chin and then pass it on to a teammate, chin to chin, without using any hands. If the orange is dropped, then the culprit begins his or her turn again. First team to finish wins, of course.

    Christmas picture game

For this Christmas office party game, form everyone into two or more teams and have them compete to guess their team member's drawings in a specific category, such as Christmas carols, songs, or simply anything associated with Christmas.

You'll need to provide a large pad of paper and some markers for each team, and have a box full of topics for each team member to draw so that the others on the team can guess what the item is. This is noisy and fun!

Final tip - have everything ready for your Christmas office party games at least a day ahead of schedule and enjoy! Everyone will appreciate your hard work.

    Have a great time!
