In most households around the country, the Christmas holiday festivities often include sitting around the fireplace (or having the traditional Yule Log channel on the TV) or the Christmas tree talking about the year, telling stories, or opening gifts. This year, you can do something different and special with your family when you put on funny Christmas skits.
Getting to know the holiday through funny Christmas skits
There are many people who would consider discussing religion to be difficult, especially given the fact that there are more people these days who don't fully understand the significance of the holiday. In our modern age, it has become more of a consumer holiday and an excuse for families to get together once a year, exchange gifts, and eat well. It's also a great excuse for people to have a week or more off from work at the end of the year.
Here are a few Christmas skit ideas that you can use next year.
'Someone's In Our House'
For this Christmas skit, the idea revolves around Santa Claus entering the home of an unwitting family. This family doesn't believe in Christmas or Santa Claus and they catch the intruder in the 'act' of leaving gifts. They tie him up and wait for the police to arrive.
While they are waiting, each member of the family is met with a 'Christmas miracle' and they begin to believe in Santa Claus. Now they must find a way to break him out of custody and save Christmas.
The Perfect Gift
In this funny Christmas skit, two different parents want to get their kid the perfect Christmas gift, but when they find that there is only one left, they do everything they can to be the first one to the store and get that perfect gift. The problem is that they run into traffic jams, old ladies crossing the street, and even a parade that holds them up.
Then, when they finally get to the store, one parent gets there first. The other parent must try to explain why he wasn't able to get that perfect gift for his child and discovers the essence of Christmas when a mysterious stranger leaves the perfect gift on his doorstep.
Santa Claus is Comin' to Town
This funny Christmas skit has a small town preparing for a visit from Santa Claus. But when they celebrate his arrival, they don't realize that he's just a mall Santa and the real one is ignored. This leads to one young child believing in the real Santa and showing him the true meaning of Christmas.
When you are putting together humorous Christmas skits, you want to focus on the message of the play. Think about what message you want to convey. Also, think about the length of the skit as well. A single screenplay page averages out to about a minute of play time. You don't want to put on a two hour play!
When you put on funny Christmas skits next year, you'll hear a lot of wonderful comments about that Christmas being the best ever. Have fun!
