If you're any kind of a carpenter, you could create a beautiful fifth wedding anniversary gift for your spouse with your own two hands. You could build a wooden deck and patio on the back of your home. You could whittle out a sculpture from a piece of wood.
Not so keen on the do-it-yourself ideas? Hire someone to build a wooden gazebo in your yard. Or buy a new home furnishing for your spouse, perhaps a new oak bedroom set, wardrobe, or even new kitchen cabinets. If your spouse is a green-minded individual, purchase some saplings and plant some trees in the yard to honor him / her.
A simple, and less expensive fifth wedding anniversary gift idea would be to find a favorite wedding photo of yours, have it blown up to a large size (20" x 30" is a good suggestion), and have it custom framed with a wooden frame. Depending on what your budget is, you and your partner's interests, and where you're at in life, you've got plenty of options to make something work.
There is also a more modern version of the anniversary gift suggestion list. The modern suggestion for the fifth wedding anniversary is silverware. This does seem to be a little more constraining with options, but you can still make it work.
Maybe you've got a great backyard for parties, but your spouse hates all the trash that plastic dining-ware and silverware leave afterwards. BINGO, for this gift, you can buy a set of wooden silverware and also dish set. Or, you can buy dishwasher safe-plastic silverware, as well.
Maybe the silverware you got for your wedding is starting to look old, or just isn't as formal as you know your partner would prefer for special occasions. Then, you can go buy a customized set with a more formal look to it for special holiday or formal dinners you might have.
Gift-giving aside, you can celebrate your fifth wedding anniversary in a lot of other ways, too. Send the kids off to grandma's and come home from work early to prepare a candle-lit dinner for two. Make her favorite meal (even if it's pizza!) and lay out a beautiful tablecloth, with full place settings. Bring out the fancy dinnerware if you've got it - cloth napkins and all! Light candles all around the house. When she walks in, take her coat and purse, and shuffle her right to her seat at the table.
Another great idea is to go on a romantic getaway together. Book a 3-day cruise, or rent a cabin for a mountain retreat. Your options are truly endless.
If you get a little bit creative, you won't have a problem coming up with a great way to celebrate your fifth wedding anniversary. Don't forget to think outside the box, and you'll have no problems coming up with something special and unique to do on such a special day!
