Here are some great Christmas presents to consider when doing your Christmas shopping.
When shopping for the perfect gift, think about the recipient. What does he or she like? Is there something they need? What will help show them how special they are to me? What's hot this year? What is my spending budget? By asking these questions, you can take some of the stress out of shopping for great Christmas presents.
Nothing says "you're special to me" more than a homemade gift. Homemade gifts show that you took the time to craft a unique item especially for that person. Some great homemade gift ideas include homemade scarves (knitted or crocheted), homemade treats (you can make candy or cookies and place them in a festive tin), or photo albums or scrapbooks designed especially for the recipient.
For example, if you have an older adult, a great Christmas present could be a scrapbook including pictures from the person's childhood to the present. It is a great way to help them take a walk down memory lane. Another great homemade gift idea is a handmade quilt or room decor.
Also, look at your own artistic talent. Do you paint, draw pictures, write? Use your talents to create great gifts for those on your list. For example, if you are a writer, create a personalized poem or story for each person on your list. If you are writing a poem, print it on a nice piece of stationery and frame it for the recipient, or take a collection of your poems to a printer to have several copies printed for those on your list.
Younger children love stories in which they are the main character, so write a story surrounding the life of the child on your list. If you're a photographer, create photo DVDs with family pictures and music. Create your own family movie and burn copies for those on your list.
Another great Christmas present is to organize a coat or food drive for a nonprofit agency or family in need. Often we forget the true meaning of Christmas in the hustle and bustle of shopping for gifts. Instead of giving presents to each other this year, adopt a needy family and buy gifts for them.
Include in your gifts the groceries to prepare a holiday meal. Have your church sponsor a food or coat drive. This is a great way to spread the true meaning of Christmas. Give the precious gift of time and volunteer at your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter (and make sure that you don't just do this during the holidays, since need never takes time off).
When looking at great Christmas presents, the possibilities are endless. Sometimes you don't have to look any further than your own home to come up with wonderful ways to say, "Merry Christmas. You are so special to me."
