The thing is, many of us have no idea how to get the romantic style and look that we want, so a little help might go a long way.
Healthy hair is romantic
The first thing you need when you're working for romantic hairstyles, is that your hair needs to be healthy. This means that it's shiny and soft even when you're home for the evening. You can accomplish this by making sure to treat your hair well all the time and give it regular TLC. Hot oil treatments once weekly can keep your tresses shining and healthy, and reducing the styling equipment and products you use will go a long way too.
Romantic hair isn't stiff
Whether you're seeking a romantic hairstyle for your wedding day or just a day out, you should know that this type of hair isn't stiff or over styled, so put away the heavy duty hair spray and gel and opt for styling cremes and shine sprays that will give your hair the hold you need without all the sticky stiffness you're eager to avoid.
When you're working to create this type of hair, you're going to want to imagine flowing waves and a more natural look. Think of traditional or even ancient styles of hair. More to the point, watch a show or movie portraying the way Greek and Roman women did their hair. This should give you some ideas. You are not working to create a plastered back look; you're looking to enhance your personal beauty.
Think of soft braids, gentle loops and big soft curls in the hair and you're on the right track.
How to do it
So how do you go about putting together romantic hairstyles?
Keep your hair soft and smooth, then style with a 1" curling iron or hot rollers. Once you've got the curl and it's completely cooled, comb through with your fingers. Don't add too many braids, but consider a simple one to complement the overall look, and if you're putting your hair up, you should keep it loose and allow soft tendrils to fall around your face. Don't make it look too done, though, or you'll risk losing the romance of your hairstyle.
Are you considering leaving your hair down or going half up? These can both be romantic ways to wear your hair, but you should do it right for either romantic hairstyle.
Keep your tresses soft and frizz free by using a styling spray that will hold and still allow movement. Spray directly onto your hands and run your hands gently over your completed style.
When you want to do a half up look, don't pull locks too tightly to the head; instead, give the hair some room to move. This will cause shorter pieces of hair to fall from the 'do and frame the face, and it will help keep your style looking natural and sweet.
Remember you're going for a hairstyle that makes you look prettier than you already are, so you don't want anything too tight or harsh, because romantic hairstyles are soft and pretty.
