Thanksgiving Desserts - Recipes for Delicious Sweet Treats for Everyone

Are you looking for some ideas for Thanksgiving desserts to give your family or guests some sweet treats?

If all the turkey and delightful sides aren't enough for the average Thanksgiving fan, then the desserts will likely be the best part of the meal.

Even those who aren't so thrilled about dessert recognize the need for a good old traditional piece of pumpkin pie to round out the meal. If you're not a fan of the spicy pie, then you might be looking for something that offers the same kind of comfort, without the pumpkin. You might want to give some of the following Thanksgiving desserts a try.

Pumpkin Cheesecake

Not a pie fan? Why not try the pumpkin cheesecake? You'll love the rich flavor, and the cheesy taste and texture will have cheesecake fans cheering for your ingenious cooking skills.

For this Thanksgiving dessert, you will need:

  • Four eight-ounce packages of bar cream cheese that is very soft
  • One and one quarter cups of sugar
  • Three tablespoons of flour
  • One cup of canned pumpkin puree
  • Two tablespoons of pumpkin pie spice
  • One tablespoon of vanilla (pure)
  • One half teaspoon of salt
  • Four room temperature large eggs

    For the crust:

  • Graham cracker crumbs from 10 whole crackers
  • Four tablespoons of melted unsalted butter
  • One quarter cup of sugar

    To make this Thanksgiving dessert:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a nine inch pie pan.

  • For the crust, mix the graham cracker crumbs, sugar and butter in a medium bowl. Press the mixture into the bottom of the pan until firm and bake for 10 or 12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.

  • Beat cream cheese and sugar on low until smooth. Add the flour, then mix. Add pumpkin puree and spice, salt and vanilla; mix until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time and mix until they are combined before adding the next one.

  • Place the pie pan on a cookie sheet and pour the mixture in. Reduce oven heat to 300 degrees F and cook for 45 minutes. Turn the oven off and let the pie sit for another two hours before taking it out.

  • Remove cheese cake from the oven and cover with plastic wrap. Let it sit in the fridge for about four hours, or until it is firm.

    Orange Chocolate Bread Pudding

You might also want to consider something fun and easy like an orange chocolate bread pudding.

For this Thanksgiving dessert, you will need:

  • Four cups of whole milk
  • One and a half cups of sugar
  • A 12 ounce can of frozen orange juice - thawed
  • Two large eggs and six yolks
  • Three quarters of a cup and two tablespoons of bourbon
  • Four tablespoons of unsalted butter and more to grease
  • 12 cups of day old challah bread cubes
  • Pinch of salt
  • Three quarters of a cup of heavy cream
  • Three quarters of a cup of bittersweet chocolate

    To make this Thanksgiving dessert:

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, mix the milk, a half a cup of orange juice and one cup of sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves and cool slightly.

  • Whisk in the bourbon (two tablespoons), eggs and yolks with the mixture in a large bowl. Fold in the bread cubes. Cover and put in the fridge until the bread soaks up the liquid, for about an hour and a half.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and butter a 9 by 13 baking dish. Fold the chocolate into the mixture with the bread. Spread evenly into the baking dish. Sprinkle with sugar and bake for about an hour and 20 minutes, until a knife comes clean.

  • For the sauce, melt four tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the remaining sugar and cook until caramelized. Whisk in the remaining orange juice, three quarters cup of bourbon and salt. Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes or until it is thick, and then mix in the cream. Simmer until the sauce is thick enough to coat a spoon.

  • When bread pudding is done, slice it and drizzle with sauce before serving this yummy Thanksgiving dessert.
