A Good Thanksgiving Dinner Menu - Foods to Delight Your Guests

Everyone needs a good Thanksgiving dinner menu, as Thanksgiving is known for great food and good company.

In fact, many people prepare to gain a few pounds over Thanksgiving break, indicating that food plays an important role in the holiday. The general rule is that the more food, the better.

There is so much time and effort put into making dinner for Thanksgiving Day. Sometimes, it can even be overwhelming. Coming up with a tasty menu will be helpful for your celebration and keep you from feeling scattered.

There are many different kinds of food people make and eat on Thanksgiving. Some will offer ham as the main dish of their Thanksgiving dinner menu, some will offer Turkey, and some will offer other types of meat.

Beginning with appetizers, you may want to serve a vegetable dish, deviled eggs, mushroom puffs, a fruit tray, or fruit kabobs.

Of course, having a big, juicy turkey is what most people do on Thanksgiving. Be sure you thaw it out the day before you plan on cooking it. Along with turkey, there are many things you can serve.

Stuffing is a winner for sure. There is nothing like grandma or mom's homemade stuffing! Common ingredients for stuffing include breadcrumbs, butter, onion, sage, and poultry seasoning.

Potatoes are also a necessity for a Thanksgiving dinner menu. There are various ways to spice up your potatoes. Consider spicing them up with cream cheese added to them, chives, minced onion, or bacon bits. Butternut squash mixed with potatoes is a delightful and colorful addition to your menu.

Have you ever tried sweet potato pie? It is delicious and very easy to make. Simply purchase sweet potatoes in a can, smash them up, add butter, brown sugar and a lot of mini marshmallows on the top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until the marshmallows turn golden brown. They will definitely be a hit.

Vegetables are an important part of your Thanksgiving dinner menu. Consider green beans, corn, or peas. Green bean casserole is a hit. You can also have a variety of vegetables on the table to choose from.

Rolls and biscuits will add to your dinner as well. Bake until light brown and serve with butter. Don't forget to make gravy, too. If you cannot make your own gravy, go ahead and purchase turkey gravy, as your guests will be looking for it to pour over their food. Cranberry sauce will add color and flavor to your Thanksgiving dinner menu as well.

Don't be afraid to search recipes for something new this year. It is always fun to learn how to make that next great side dish that everyone will rave about. Also, don't forget about dessert. Offer two to three desserts for your guests - anything from cheesecake to apple pie to chocolate cake.

Be creative and enjoy planning your Thanksgiving dinner menu. You will be so thrilled to sit down at the table with your family and watch everyone delight in the wonderful Thanksgiving dinner that you've provided for them.

Happy Thanksgiving!
