Kids especially find humor in opening fake "poop" on Christmas morning (though some adults do as well). You can make your own edible "poop", include a poem, wrap it up and give as a gift.

One example is to make Reindeer poop out of chocolate covered apricots. Simply melt some chocolate chips and roll the apricots in it until they are well covered. Allow to dry and put in a glass jar. Attach a poem to it.

Another fun homemade Christmas gag gift is to wrap up a set of batteries and attach a note that says, "Toy not included." This usually gets a laugh because so many times, kids have opened gifts with toys in which batteries were not included and there never seemed to be any around the house.

There is always that well-known gag gift of wrapping a small present in a very big box, or wrapping a present over and over again so the recipient has to keep unwrapping the paper for awhile before getting to the gift. You can also simply put a lot of tape around a gift, making it hard to open.

Some women like to wrap up some "husband training treats", in which they bake some cookies, put them into a cookie tin box, and include directions. The directions could say something like, "Administer one for folding laundry, washing the dishes, taking out the garbage, putting the toilet seat down, and cleaning the garage." Be sure your husband will get a kick out of this, though, as some could get somewhat offended in this area.

There are plenty of "awards" you can print out and give as a homemade Christmas gag gift. You could award "most interesting hair", "loudest laugh", "most valuable late-comer", "best gas award", or "sassiest person award." Feel free to come up with your own ideas here based on a characteristic of the recipient. Trophies work well for this type of gag gift, too.

You can also fill up a pill bottle with candy and make a fake prescription and attach it to the bottle. You can write, "Smart Pills: Take one daily to lessen symptoms of dumb things to say." You can also label one "Anti-Aging Pills" and write: "Take one per day to help you stay young."
