Holiday gift baskets can be made for every holiday. The holiday itself will determine what you put into the basket. At Christmas, for example, a gift basket can be filled with peppermint scented candles, real mistletoe, apple cider, and warm gloves. On the other hand, you might want to fill an Easter basket with chocolate eggs, flower seeds, a monogrammed Bible, and even a potted plant that the person can enjoy throughout the year.
Holiday music can be a lot of fun, too, especially at Christmas time. A "mixed tape" of some of your favorite holiday songs can be a fun homemade holiday gift, particularly when you know how much the other person enjoys listening to music during the holidays.
Of course, food is almost always a welcomed gift. A plate of brownies, a box of cookies, a jar of homemade kahlua, or even homemade jams and jellies are just some things that can be enjoyed all year long, even after the holiday is over.
If you enjoy painting or drawing, then beautiful pieces of artwork designed by you would be lovely homemade holiday gifts. Not good at these things? You can also take a picture of something that is special to that person and have it framed. Consider taking a picture of the person's child, pet, or even his / her house. Use photo editing software that can be found for free online, upload the picture, and have it printed on one of the picture printing websites, such as Shutterfly.
If you don't have any recent pictures to use, then you can also use a picture from the past. If you've been friends with the person for a long time, then a childhood picture of the two of you would be very special to the both of you. You can also use a series of pictures and create a calendar as a unique gift, or even create a scrapbook.
Do you have sewing skills? Knitting skills? A warm hat at Christmas, an afghan with beautiful colors at Easter, or an embroidered tablecloth are all nice homemade holiday gifts that you can make yourself.
If you're not much of a cook, or you don't think that you're very artistic, then you can also get creative with your homemade holiday gifts by pairing them with other things. A gift certificate to the movies at Easter, for instance, can be placed inside a plastic egg that you have decorated. A fun scavenger hunt with a bunch of little gifts along the way can be a great way to spend Christmas Eve.
If you have children, then get the family in on the whole act. Children can be very creative when it comes to homemade holiday gifts, and you might be surprised at just how industrious they really are.
