Valentine's Day Crafts - Simple Yet Beautiful Handicraft Projects

Are you looking for ideas for great Valentine's Day crafts?

With Valentine's Day being one of the top spending events of the year, Valentine's Day crafts is almost a thing of the past - particularly for adults. Youngsters still love making gifts for their parents, grandparents, special friends and teachers, though, especially when it involves candy, such as a candy bouquet, heart shaped sugar cookies, or scones that say "I love you".

For a bouquet, which is quite easy, collect a vase along with some flower arranging supplies (decorative grass, silk fern branch and floral tape), some ribbon (curling and red satin), bamboo skewers and candy (chocolate hearts and hard candy - red or green).

Before you start on the candy flowers, fill the vase with the grass and then a silk fern branch. Make a few flowers out of the skewers, green hard candy and floral tape, securing the candy to the skewers with the tape. Insert them into the vase.

To make the chocolate heart candy, insert the bamboo's sharp end into the candy and wrap the skewer in the green tape. Now, tie curling ribbon below the candy flower and curl for a clever effect. Place these in the vase as well, shortening some of the stems to get the desired bouquet effect. Use the satin ribbon for a bow around the vase and your Valentine's Day craft is ready to be given as a gift for virtually any age group or sex.

For another Valentine's Day craft project, tissue paper flowers, another easy gift, can be constructed with just a few supplies (pink tissue paper, chenille stems in pink and purple, scissors and thin white ribbon).

Cut the tissue paper into 5x8" pieces, then take two of them together and cut 1/2" wide sections half the way up the long edge. From the stem, cut away 1" and set aside.

To make the flowers, place the chenille stem at the center lower edge (uncut) and fold the paper in half. Now roll the stem and the paper up until the flower is formed; fluff. Secure with the 1" piece of chenille. Repeat this process until you have the desired amount of flowers.

Make some white ones and a few dark pink ones for a lovely bouquet. They look quite nice in a wide mouth vase with a few fern type leaves. Use white ribbon for a bow - around the bouquet or around the vase.

Don't forget Valentine's Day crafts like baking - heart shaped scones, brownies cut into heart shapes with a swirl of whipped cream and favorite nuts on top, or a batch of pancakes doused with wild cherry syrup, strawberries and cream or raspberry preserves. These may not require scissors and glue, but the time and creative effort warrants their inclusion.

This goes for chocolate cones as well. They are a bit more work, but the taste of these treats is out of this world. Once shaped and dried, they can be used in a number of creative ways, pleasing almost any palette.

Ingredients for this "Valentine's Day craft" include items found in every kitchen (3 tablespoons of flour, 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 egg white, 2 tablespoons of unsalted and melted butter, and 2 tablespoons of chopped nuts - pistachio is outstanding). They only bake 4 to 6 minutes in a 400 degree F oven. How scrumptiously easy is that?
